September

On August 31, Mooresville Intermediate School kicked off the new school year by hosting a Back 2 School Family Movie Night on the green. Various food trucks from the area provided dinner and treats while Kayla Vega entertained everyone with her musical talent and beautiful voice. There was also a free book giveaway, and over 100 books were given away to students and their families! When the sun went down, everyone enjoyed the movie Despicable Me 3. Over 200 people attended and had a blast!

November

MIS students have been busy exploring our newly arranged fiction section during their Media Enhancement time. Originally organized alphabetically by an author’s last name, Ms. Thoennes and Ms. Faucher (along with many parent and student volunteers) have worked hard to reorganize the fiction section of our library by genre. This will help our students find new books to read more easily based on the genres they already like! It will also help them branch out into exploring new genres as well!

Over the past couple of weeks, our 6th grade classes participated in a digital scavenger hunt using the GooseChase app! What a great way to engage students!

October

Teachers at Mooresville Intermediate School have been challenging themselves to step outside of the box to provide engaging and memorable experiences for their students. They have been busy “transforming” their classrooms!

Ms. Silvestri transformed her classroom into a pizzeria where the students were the chefs while practicing multiplicative comparisons. Ms. DeVerna treated students to a book tasting set up as the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party to get her students excited about reading new books. Finally, Ms. Sharpley revamped her classroom for “Glow Day” to help students review for their upcoming benchmark assessment!  What an awesome experience for their students!
